Star of the new middle grade – young adult novel, Sammy and the San Juan Express, hits the road for a summer filled with adventure. She’ll be visiting friends, national parks, and a few book stores. Where else would a girl start her trip but sunny California. First a walk on Santa Monica Pier, and some serious beach time.
“Holy Hollywood stars, the water’s so much warmer in Southern California,” Sammy said as she dove into the seventy one degree ocean. “At home, in the San Juan Islands near Seattle Washington, the water’s closer to fifty five degrees—Brrr. And there really are stars in California, I’m sure I saw Ariana Grande on the beach.”
As the sun set, Sammy attended a block party in a local neighborhood filled with a million children running through sprinklers, waving sparklers, setting off firecrackers, and fireworks exploding overhead.
“Happy Birthday America.”
